CIA Whistleblower John Kiriakou faces threats by prison officials who are pressuring him not to write letters to the press.
The government continues to send a chilling message to whistleblowers: “Stay silent.” From prison, CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou has been writing “Letters from Loretto” which have been published on Firedog Lake. The prison considers these public letters such a threat that they are punishing and threatening Kiriakou with some of the same abusive techniques used against Chelsea Manning. In retaliation for writing the letters, prison officials have threatened to move Kirakou from prison to prison such that no person could ever locate or contact him, and they have frequently ransacked his cell as a way of breaking them down and turning cellmates against them. Kiriakou’s right to contact the press is protected by the Constitution. Don’t let the government silence those who reveal the truth about the wars. Whistleblowers need protection.
